Throughout our build process, I’ve been documenting the project with intention, partly to share the journey, but also to highlight the quiet beauty of construction and industrial spaces that is often overlooked. My husband Dion and I are both deliberate about what we absorb and consume in this world, and that sensibility extends to our building site. We’re not acquiring materials for the sake of it; we’d rather take the time to source what feels right than cut corners. This shoot, and the wider documentation of the project to date, has been informed by books such as Ways of Seeing by John Berger, and The Beauty of Everyday Things by Sōetsu Yanagi.
